LIGHTSTREAM PUBLICATIONS
The Writer's Assistant

Is there a book in your future? LIGHTSTREAM PUBLICATIONS can be of assistance. We specialize in light editing, proofreading, copyediting, typesetting, printing and comb binding of a small number of sample books.

Why Produce a Sample Book?

* Visualization Works!
A sample book helps you visualize your project. You the author can see the strengths and weaknesses of your manuscript; you can make improvements before submitting it to a potential publisher. A publisher to whom you submit it can better understand the concept of your book. Publishers these days often look for completed books rather than manuscripts that require a lot of work.

* A Second Opinion.
Your manuscript will be read by a writer who is not as close to the subject as you are. A broader viewpoint and constructive comments can help you improve your writing and editing skills. We will provide you with twenty (or more as necessary) copies of your book which you can give to friends, colleagues and media personnel to review.

* Moving on Down the Road.
Technical editing is in your manuscript's future, no matter who does it. LIGHTSTREAM PUBLICATIONS can put you further along in the process. The more the author can do him-or herself, the less the publisher has to do.

* Be Involved in Creating Your Book!
It is, after all, your book and not someone else's, at least not yet. Select layouts, fonts and artwork that you wish to use. Be in control of the artistic process. Keep yourself in the decision-making loop until your book is sold to a publisher or until it goes to press.

* Learn More About Self-Publishing.
If your future best-seller is not accepted by a major publisher, you may wish to self-publish your book. We can produce your material as camera-ready copy for the book producer you have chosen.

*Why Self-Publish?
1. Self-publishing is financially rewarding with good tax breaks.
2. You can begin your business on a part-time basis at home or in the office.
3. Self-publishing can be the road to independence and the dream of being self-employed.
4. When you self-publish, you keep control of the creative process.
5. Your work will appear in a more timely manner and not at the convenience of a publisher dealing with many other books and authors.
6. You can promote your book in a way that is consistent with your advertising philosophy.
7. You may find your business expanding in order to publish the work of other authors.
8. Self-publishing can be the springboard to lucrative contracts with larger publishers.

* We believe our prices are cost-effective for the services you receive. Our work is guaranteed. If you are not satisfied with the quality of the finished products, please return them immediately for a full refund.

* Your manuscript should be submitted both in hard copy and on disk in either Mac or PC format. The price is determined by the length of the manuscript and the editorial changes done. If your manuscript is completely edited and typeset, costs for producing only the books will be correspondingly lower. For example, prices may range from $100 for the printing of 20 sample books to $1,000 for the editing, typesetting and production of 20 sample books.
