Over Done
"Josh, we have to stop now," Donna said from her position, pinned
against her apartment door.
"We could continue inside," he suggested.
"I don't think that would be wise." She pushed him away, although it
actually physically hurt her to do so. She fanned herself. "I feel
like the turkey on Thanksgiving Day."
"Just a little over-heated," Josh agreed. "Why can't I come in?"
"Because my roommate's here."
"I don't have a roommate," he suggested, tugging on her hand.
"Josh, I really want to take this slow," she said.
"We've been on slow for years, Donna. I don't know how much slower
we could go."
"I refuse to be a one-night stand. You've had too much to drink..."
"I have not!"
"Three glasses of wine, Josh."
"I was celebrating!"
"Keep your voice down," she hissed. "This is turning in to one of
those times CJ just warned me about." She crossed her arms.
"Back to your being a one-night stand. You're not a one-night stand,
Donna."
"That's right, and I don't intend to start now. So you can just cool
your over-heated jets."
"Okay, I'll play nice. Whatever you say. Just let me come in for a
little while?"
"Not wise," she said. She pulled him closer again. "I was on the
verge of quitting my job this afternoon, Josh. Things have changed.
Dramatically. But I'm not entirely done being mad at you yet."
"Donna, you're killing me." She pushed him away again. "Okay, so
that was a really bad choice of words." He put his hands on her
shoulders and she shrugged them off. "Donna!"
"Stop yelling!"
"We're going in circles here," he said.
"And that would make this conversation different from any other one
we've had how?"
He was quiet.
"Donna," he began.
"I think we'd better just call it a night," she suggested.
"Donna!" he tried again.
"Good night, Josh," she said with her hand on the doorknob.
The door swung open and they were greeted with the very upset face of
Donna's roommate. "Are you two done?" she asked.
"Oh, we're so past done," Donna said. "We're over-done."
She walked in and allowed her roommate to close the door on Josh.
